Goldstripe Bamboo

Clumping bamboo — non-invasive and tidy. 

Attractive golden stripes on the culms. 

Grows naturally upright — ideal for narrow garden beds or tight spaces. 

Frost tolerant. 

Produces edible shoots. 

Low water requirement once established / drought tolerant. 
 

Typical mature height: ~3–4 m. 

Can reach up to 4–5 m in ideal conditions. 

Clump footprint: naturally ~1 m wide, but can be maintained smaller (minimum ~40cm) in narrow beds. 

Very fast growth — can reach screening height quickly.

Mulch well, especially in the first year. 

Water regularly until established, then moderate watering. 

Fertilise 2-3 times a year (high nitrogen fertilizer works well). 

Prune to maintain shape or desired height / thin older canes if needed.

Full sun to part shade. Prefers well-draining soil.

Keep soil moist during establishment.

Once established, drought tolerant but benefits from regular watering in hot periods.
