Boniopsis Bamboo

Dense, bushy foliage in a natural “ice-cream cone” or vase shape. 

Non-invasive clumping habit. 

Can be maintained between ~1.5m to 3m high by trimming. 

Culm (pole) diameters of approximately 1–2 cm. 

Quick growing; can reach full height in 18–24 months once established. 

Very drought tolerant once established. 

Frost-tolerant.

Typical mature height: 3–4 m. 

Natural footprint (clump diameter): ~1 m. 

Top foliage can fan out to ~2 m wide in ideal conditions. 

To reduce footprint: can be grown in tighter beds, down to ~50 cm wide, if planted carefully.                                 Soil preference: free-draining soil. 

Light preference: full sun to full shade tolerated. 

Water: moderate once established; drought tolerant.

Ideal for privacy screening / hedging. 

Suitable for garden beds, pots, or troughs because of its compact clumping habit. 

Works in both sunlit and shaded areas.

Requires trim / pruning to maintain desired height (1.5 – 3 m recommended). 

Use a bamboo planting guide for best results (especially in first few months). 

Once established, low maintenance and resilient to dry conditions.
