Camellia Sasanqua - the Perfect Blend of Foliage and Flowers

In our sub-tropical climate here in Queensland, Camellias are often overlooked as a suitable plant for the garden. The Camellia Sasanqua is a variety that is happy to grow and flourish in our area. With the qualities of an evergreen shrub, they are hardy and provide great versatility to achieve different garden styles.

Camellia Sasanqua Sparkling Burgundy

Camellia Sasanqua can be used as a hedge, creating natural privacy and fencing, screening espalier style in small and large spaces, or in decorative pots to create a lovely cottage-like feel on your patio. No matter how you choose to use Camellias, they are sure to make a striking statement in your garden!

Camellia Sasanqua is easy to grow in full or part sun, and they do not require much looking after. With a shallow root system, many varieties can easily be kept in pots making a perfect option for those working with limited outdoor space. They like compost-rich, slightly acidic soil and have a low to medium water demand.

One of our favourite qualities of Camellia Sasanqua is when its fragrant flowers bloom in a range of colours come late Summer and Autumn. There are many varieties to choose from, and the glossy green foliage ensures a perfectly clean look all year round.
