VARIEGATED

VARIEGATED HEDGING BAMBOO

(Bambusa heterostachya 'Variegata')

Malay Dwarf Variegated is a bushy hedging bamboo perfect for wider garden beds or pots and troughs. Malay Dwarf Variegated will naturally grow to 3-4mtrs in height and can be trimmed or hedged to the desired height. (read maintenance tips here).

It has a bushy dense growth habit with attractive green and white striped leaves. The natural footprint size of the clump is 1-1.5mtrs and the natural hedging shape usually means its the same width in foliage as height. However this wonderful species can be trimmed, hedged, cut back and maintained into narrower garden beds down to 50cm wide. Keep in mind that the smaller the garden bed, the shorter the hedge will be. It is a fantastic noise and wind barrier for ultimate protection. Little birds also love to nest within the branches so its fantastic for aviaries and bird lovers! It can be made into a box hedge with an electric hedger. This is a great acreage plant due to its low maintenance and drought hardy nature. View Malay Dwarf Variegated in our customer testimonials>

Clumping bamboo grow circular, so plant them the same distance apart as the width you have available. Eg. if your planting trench is 80cm wide, you would plant them 80cm apart to form a dense screen. The narrower the space, the closer you plant the bamboo together. For more information, talk to one of our helpful and knowledgable staff members for professional advice on your garden circumstances. The approximate size of bamboo is only a guide. Plant measurements are taken from the bottom of the pot.

The sizing of plants does vary, particularly through different seasons of the year.

The most valuable part of the bamboo is the rootball size within the pots, which produces incredibly fast growth once planted.
