GIANT BUDDHA BELLY

ORNAMENTAL BULGING
STEM BAMBOO

(Bambusa vulgaris 'Wamin')

Giant Buddhas Belly bamboo is a large ornamental bamboo featuring the famous bulging nodes on the culm. Giant Buddha Belly bamboo will naturally grow up to 6-8 metres in height and can be trimmed down in height if need be (read maintenance tips here). Keep in mind it is a beautiful arching shaped bamboo, so trimming it too short can impact the integrity of its shape.

It has a natural wide shape, meaning the top is much wider then the footprint. It tends to have minimal branching down low and looks best with more branches trimmed out to showcase the culms. The natural footprint size of the clump is 3mtrs (in a big circle), so this is not a narrow bamboo. This wonderful species can be planted into narrower garden beds or maintained smaller to suit your needs, however the smaller the area, the less impressive the bulge tends to be (unless it is cared for like a high maintenance plant)

Clumping bamboo grow circular, so plant your Buddhas Belly in one big round hole. For more information, talk to one of our helpful and knowledgable staff members for professional advice on your garden circumstances. Different circumstances have different solutions!

Giant Buddhas Belly bamboo is quick growing, and can be fully grown in 3-4 years if established well. It can take a couple years for the bulge to start being impressive. Or achieve quicker growth if you purchase more established sizes! It is low maintenance and extremely drought tolerant once established.

The approximate size of bamboo is only a guide. Plant measurements are taken from the bottom of the pot. â€‹

The sizing of plants does vary, particularly through different seasons of the year.

The most valuable part of the bamboo is the rootball size within the pots, which produces incredibly fast growth once planted.
