CHINESE DWARF

HEDGING BAMBOO

(Bambusa guangxiensis)

Chinese Dwarf is a bushy hedging bamboo perfect for wider garden beds or pots and troughs. Chinese Dwarf will naturally grow really tall in height but requires trimming (only twice yearly) to the desired height to ensure an effective bushy thick hedge. (read maintenance tips here).

It has a bushy, fluffy, rounded habit, with attractive dark green foliage. The natural footprint size of the clump is 2mtrs and the natural ball ball shape usually means its the same width in foliage as height. However this wonderful species can be trimmed, hedged, cut back and maintained into narrower garden beds down to 1mtr wide. Keep in mind that the narrower the garden bed, the shorter the hedge will be. It is a fantastic noise and wind barrier for ultimate protection.  View Chinese Dwarf in our customer testimonials>

Clumping bamboo grow circular, so plant them the same distance apart as the width you have available. Eg. if your planting trench is 80cm wide, you would plant them 80cm apart to form a dense screen. The narrower the space, the closer you plant the bamboo together. For more information, talk to one of our helpful and knowledgable staff members for professional advice on your garden circumstances. Different circumstances have different solutions!

Chinese Dwarf is extremely quick growing and can grown to 3mtrs high within 2 years, or quicker if you purchase more established sizes! Chinese Dwarf is low maintenance & drought tolerant once established.

The sizing of plants does vary, particularly through different seasons of the year.

The most valuable part of the bamboo is the rootball size within the pots, which produces incredibly fast growth once planted.
